Description

This table was built from sustainably sourced wood imported from Brazil. the whole log was harvested and imported to the US, where it was sliced into slabs, kiln-dried, machined, and worked into the shape you see. All voids were filled with exterior grade machine epoxy, including a single smoky dark pigmented layer deep within the filled table.

The legs and apron of the table constitute a single element. Using traditional mortise and tenon joinery, the legs have been attached at the perfect angle to provide a sleek look. Each of the four pieces of the apron and the four legs feature a live edge.  The apron has a unique cut at the ends, with all apron pieces being bookmatched. Each of the legs is inset into the mortise and tenon and permanently fastened with glue for additional durability.

Construction was completed in 2018. The table is finished in semi-gloss tung oil. Approximately 20 coats were used on the top surface of the table.
